Yesterday, I had the sweetest afternoon with two of my favorite people—Kirstin and her daughter, Suli. You may recognize Kirstin as the talented photographer behind my own engagement and wedding photos (yes, that’s how good she is). So being invited into her home to photograph her life felt like the ultimate full-circle moment.
I’ve always loved in-home sessions, but this one was extra special.
There’s something about photographing families where they live and love every day. It’s more than convenient—it’s meaningful. Kids are more relaxed, parents aren’t worried about packing a bag of backup outfits or bribing anyone with snacks. And maybe most importantly, the home becomes part of the story.
Kirstin and Suli’s house is full of beautiful details, and not just the kind that make you want to Pin every corner (though you definitely could—Kirstin has a serious gift for design). It’s the kind of beauty that feels lived-in and full of history. The drawing taped to the fridge. The light falling just right through the window where they sit and read. The hallway where Suli runs barefoot, laughing.
Those are the moments I want to preserve.
And watching Kirstin with Suli? She’s one of the best moms I’ve ever seen—patient, playful, fully present. Photographing the two of them together felt like capturing something sacred. Not posed. Not perfect. Just real life, wrapped in love.
Why I Love In-Home Family Sessions
As a film photographer here in OKC, I’m always seeking out the kinds of images that hold emotional weight—that feel like memory. And in-home sessions are full of them. They’re slower, more natural, and more comfortable for everyone involved.
Your home tells part of your story. It’s where so many of your family’s everyday moments happen: bedtime routines, pancake breakfasts, dance parties in the living room. These little things may not seem significant now, but one day, you’ll look back and realize they were everything.
And let’s be honest—your kids are more likely to be themselves when they’re surrounded by familiarity (and their favorite toys). That ease shows in the photos. You can feel it in the expressions, in the movement, in the way the whole session unfolds without pressure or performance.
Whether you’re in the season of newborn snuggles or chasing toddlers, your home holds the rhythms and rituals that shape your family’s life. Photographing that isn’t just special—it’s irreplaceable.
Looking for a Family Photographer in OKC?
If you’re searching for family photographers in OKC who offer laid-back, connection-focused sessions that feel more like real life than a photo shoot, I’d love to work with you.
I shoot on traditional film to preserve rich, timeless colors and the emotion of the moment. Each image is crafted with intention, and sessions are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable—for kids and parents alike.
And after your session, you’ll be able to order professionally made albums, frames, and fine art prints directly from your gallery—so your memories don’t live on a screen, they live in your home.
Let’s tell your family’s story, right where it’s unfolding.
Thank you again to Kirstin and Suli for such a beautiful, joy-filled afternoon. You two made magic easy.
