When I was 19, I received a gift that changed my l

When I was 19, I received a gift that changed my life: my first DSLR camera. It wasn’t just a gift; it was a symbol of sacrifice and belief from my family. My parents and older siblings pooled their money to buy it, a significant gesture in a household of eight kids living on a single income. As I unwrapped it, fighting back tears, I realized the depth of their support and what they had given up to make this possible.

I made a silent promise to myself that day: I would work tirelessly to honor their gift. I would learn every feature, master every angle, and find ways to capture moments that truly mattered. I would strive to create images that told stories, evoked feelings, and resonated with others in a meaningful way.

Now, 15 years later, I look back with immense gratitude. This journey has brought me friendships, opportunities, and countless meaningful moments. But above all, I am forever grateful to my parents and siblings for their belief in me and their unwavering support in those early years. Their love and encouragement have meant the world. ❤️

Let’s chat locations for your photos!

First off, think about your vision for your session. There are a few different options as far as locations go:

🏡 Your home
These sessions are so much fun and feel a bit more laid back. Incorporating something that holds so many memories into your session is so sweet and will make for extra special photos. Photos can be done inside or outside and are great for little ones that get overwhelmed easily by unfamiliar locations and are great for little ones that may benefit from little breaks during the session.

🌳 Outdoor
Which can be anything from a favorite park or family hangout to an open field to something more urban! I always have a list of favorite locations (including this one in the photos - Will Rogers Gardens) and am more than happy to chat about a location that is meaningful to your family.

🪞 Studio
Studio sessions are great for those who prefer a simple and timeless look. I always love them for the milestone baby sessions and for summertime sessions when the only appropriate time to be outside is when you’re at the pool. 😉

Always discuss with your photographer your ideas and thoughts for your session! And remember, while location and lighting do play a role in photos, the most important thing is the connection between you and your family.
