Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s sweetest milestones, and your newborn session is all about preserving these fleeting moments in a beautiful, relaxed way. Whether we’re capturing your baby’s tiny details at home, in a studio, or outdoors, a little preparation can help make your session smooth and stress-free.
Here are a few simple tips to ensure the best experience:
1. Keep It Cozy & Comfortable
Most newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your home, where you and your baby can feel at ease. If you prefer a studio or outdoor session, that’s an option too! No matter the setting, I’ll create a calm, cozy atmosphere to document these early moments. And if we’re shooting at home, no need for a deep clean—a quick tidy-up in the spaces you’d like to use is more than enough.
2. Feed & Change Baby Before the Session
A full, comfortable baby is a happy baby! Try to feed and change your little one just before we start, but don’t worry—breaks for feeding, diaper changes, and soothing are always welcome. We’ll take our time to keep baby (and you!) as relaxed as possible.
3. Simple is Best
No elaborate props or outfits needed—natural, timeless photos are the goal. A soft swaddle (and a simple bow if you’d like) is all you need. However, I love incorporating meaningful heirlooms—if there’s something special you’d like to include, just let me know!
4. Have a Backup Outfit for Baby
I recommend two simple outfit options—just in case. Too many outfit changes can lead to unnecessary fussiness, and keeping it simple helps maintain a smooth, relaxed session.
5. Keep It Simple for Clothing
A neutral onesie or a soft, simple swaddle keeps the focus on what truly matters—your baby. Avoid bold patterns, bright colors, or oversized accessories that could be distracting.
