Mckenzie & Finn | Oklahoma City Family Photographer

Family

It’s been a little over a year since we’ve moved to Oklahoma City. In this year, I’ve discovered that there are very few months of the year that are acceptable for photographing outside. Summers are WAY too hot, winters are too cold (and windy), and spring is just too wet. I’ve come to realize as a photographer in Oklahoma, you always have to have a backup plan.

A few months ago I invested in a studio set up to have on hand in case of inclement weather. I’ve avoided photographing with artificial light for so long. I’ve never been a fan of the look or style of it! Many times it feels too dated for my liking. After discovering Sandra Coan’s work, I realized it is possible to get a more modern look in studio. I’m loving the results I’ve had so far and am looking forward to offering more sessions like this in the future!

My love for photography began in a high school darkroom, watching images slowly appear. Since then, I’ve been drawn to quiet, meaningful moments rooted in connection and home. As a mother of three and a film photographer, I approach each story with care, seeking what’s honest and lasting.

Here on the blog, you’ll find recent sessions, tips, and reflections—whether you’re a fellow creative, a brand, or a mother wanting to capture this season. I hope it leaves you inspired and more in love with your own story.
