Seven years ago, when I relocated my photography business to Oklahoma City, I faced the daunting task of starting over in a brand-new city. As an Oklahoma City film photographer, I knew I’d be rebuilding everything—client base, community, and creative momentum—from scratch. My husband and I were also dreaming of growing our family, so I made the hard choice to step back from photography. Not long after, we were blessed with our second child.
During my pregnancy, I started to feel the itch again. I missed the work. I missed creating. I missed the joy of capturing moments that truly matter.
Right around the time I began wondering if my photography journey was quietly ending, Becky reached out. She wanted to book a family session. We met in a local park to talk it through, and I immediately felt something shift. Her warmth, her trust—it reminded me of everything I loved about this work. A few weeks later, we had the session at their home in Norman, and it was pure magic. That afternoon gave me the clarity and confidence to keep going.
Fast forward a couple of years, and the Rice family moved to Utah—just a few miles from where I grew up. We stayed connected, and this past summer we finally made another session happen. This time, in dreamy Provo Canyon. Watching their family grow and photographing them again in such a meaningful place was something I’ll never forget.
