Meet sweet Olivia! This precious little girl was an absolute dream for her 6-month sitter session—so full of joy, curiosity, and the cutest baby rolls you’ve ever seen! From her bright eyes to those squishy cheeks, every moment with her was a reminder of just how special this milestone truly is. As an Oklahoma City newborn photographer, I get to capture so many beautiful baby stages, but there’s something extra sweet about this in-between phase when little ones are full of personality but still oh-so-baby.
Around six months, your baby has gone from a tiny, curled-up newborn to an expressive, giggly little person who’s sitting up (or getting close to it). This session is all about:
Sitter sessions are relaxed, simple, and all about capturing your baby’s growing personality, and the best part? You can choose a location that fits your style! Whether we shoot outdoors in soft, golden light, in a cozy studio setting, or right in the comfort of your home, the goal is to create a relaxed environment where your baby feels happy and content.
Since little ones at this stage are still on a pretty set routine, planning around nap and mealtimes is key. A well-rested, full-bellied baby makes for the best smiles! I also recommend bringing a spare outfit (just in case) and waiting to change them into their special outfit at the session—because let’s be honest, blowouts and spit-up always seem to happen at the worst times!
Speaking of baby messes, drool is in full force at this age. To keep your photos looking fresh, I suggest avoiding darker or solid-colored outfits that may show drool marks easily. Light neutrals, soft textures, and classic baby rompers always photograph beautifully and help keep the focus on your little one’s sweet expressions.
No matter where we capture this milestone, you can expect a fun, easygoing session that highlights your baby’s budding personality and adorable chubby rolls—because trust me, this phase goes by way too fast!
For a classic and timeless look, I always recommend:
The best time for a sitter session is when your baby is sitting up unassisted but not yet crawling—usually between 6 and 8 months. This sweet spot ensures they’re comfortable and happy without being on the move too much!
If you’re looking for an Oklahoma City newborn photographer who will document your baby’s journey with a timeless approach, I’d love to work with you! The sitter session is such a beautiful way to capture the joy and wonder of this stage, and I promise—you’ll never regret freezing these moments in time.
