If you’re considering Oklahoma City kids personality portraits and want to know what the experience looks like, this covers everything — from what your child should wear to how the session flows and what happens after.

Sessions are intentionally short, running just 10 minutes. This keeps the experience manageable for kids without asking them to sustain attention or energy longer than is realistic. Some children engage right away; others take a minute or two to settle in and observe. The session is paced to accommodate both, so there’s no pressure to hit the ground running.
Portraits are made in a clean, controlled environment with no props or themed backdrops. Keeping the space simple means your child’s face stays the focal point — their expressions, their eye contact, the subtle shifts that make a portrait feel alive.
Images are delivered in black and white. Removing color keeps the viewer’s attention on expression and emotion rather than anything else in the frame. It’s also a format that ages beautifully, which matters when you’re making portraits meant to last.

A plain shirt with no graphics, patterns, or prominent logos works best. The simpler the clothing, the more the portrait centers on your child’s face. You’ll receive specific guidance on this before your session, so there’s nothing to figure out on your own.
Feel free to bring along anything that feels like them — a favorite stuffed animal, a toy they’re attached to, a hat or sunglasses they love wearing. These small personal details can add something genuine to the session.
Parents stay close by throughout and are welcome to engage with their child throughout the session. Some children are shy, so having a parent there to help them open up always helps.
Sessions are photographed one child at a time — siblings are not included in the frame together, which keeps the experience calm and focused on a single child.
As I am photographing, I’ll talk with your child, ask them easy questions, or play games to draw out natural expressions. There’s no expectation for perfect stillness or a smile on demand. Quiet, serious, and playful all translate well in this format.

Following your session, you’ll receive a curated selection of black and white images to review. From there, you’ll choose 3 of your favorites, with the option to purchase additional images.
These portraits are made to document a specific age and stage with honesty and care — the kind of images that tend to mean more as time passes.

This is one of my favorite things to offer, because the images that come out of a 10-minute session can genuinely stop you in your tracks years later. If you’d like to be notified when new dates open up, join the email list — list members hear first, and spots tend to go quickly! Join here
My love for photography began in a high school darkroom, watching images slowly appear. Since then, I’ve been drawn to quiet, meaningful moments rooted in connection and home. As a mother of three and a film photographer, I approach each story with care, seeking what’s honest and lasting.
