There’s something truly timeless about capturing the first days of a baby’s life in the space where their story begins. That’s why in home newborn sessions in OKC have become one of my favorite ways to document growing families—especially when the energy is as calm and loving as it was with the Brieske family.
Their home was filled with soft beautiful light, quiet joy, and the gentle rhythm of a family settling into a new chapter. Baby Blaine was just a couple of weeks old, sleepy and serene, snuggled into his parents’ arms with the kind of sweetness you just can’t pose.
Beyond the convenience of staying home (which is so helpful in those early postpartum days), an in-home session allows your family to be photographed in your natural rhythm. No rushing, no bright lights—just the comfort of familiar surroundings.
But more than that, it creates space for storytelling: the nursery you prepared with care, the cozy chair where you feed and rock, the siblings tiptoeing in to peek at baby’s tiny toes. These moments become more than photos—they become memories wrapped in the details of home.
Light matters—but you don’t need a “perfect” house.
One thing I often hear from new parents is, “Our house isn’t photo-worthy.” But the truth is, you don’t need designer furniture or perfect styling. What I’m looking for is natural window light (which we found beautifully in the Brieskes’ living room), soft textures, and emotional connection.
Before any in home newborn session in OKC, I guide clients on what to wear and which rooms work best. We move slowly, follow baby’s lead, and keep everything peaceful and baby-centered.
What stood out most was the tenderness. Baby Blaine melted into every touch, and his parents moved around him with so much quiet joy. We kept things simple—just natural light, soft tones, and lots of snuggling.

My love for photography began in a high school darkroom, watching images slowly appear. Since then, I’ve been drawn to quiet, meaningful moments rooted in connection and home. As a mother of three and a film photographer, I approach each story with care, seeking what’s honest and lasting.
Here on the blog, you’ll find recent sessions, tips, and reflections—whether you’re a fellow creative, a brand, or a mother wanting to capture this season. I hope it leaves you inspired and more in love with your own story.
